Cost, estimates and payment
Do you charge for estimates?
No. Estimates are free. Call, text or book a time online and we will set up a visit. We're usually able to schedule an estimate within about a week.
How much does a fence cost in Katy?
Prices depend on length, height, material, gates, grade and access. As of September 2026, our installed ranges per linear foot are about $24-35 for pressure-treated pine, $30-44 for cedar, $30-60 for vinyl and $35-60 for aluminum. See what a fence costs in Katy for what moves the price.
Is there a minimum job size?
We have a $1,900 minimum for all jobs, with no additional minimum for outer-ring areas.
Is there a travel charge for areas outside Katy?
Travel is included in your estimate, and the same $1,900 minimum applies here — there's no added travel charge or separate scheduling minimum.
Do you offer financing?
Financing is offered through Wisetack. Credit approval is required and terms vary. Ask when you book your estimate.
Why is one fence quote so much cheaper than another?
The scope is often different: post depth and material, board grade, fasteners, tear-out, approvals and insurance. See the problem with the cheapest fence quote.
Does the estimate include removing my old fence?
Removal is priced separately from the new fence and appears as its own line, about $3 per linear foot. Ask that it is itemized on your estimate.
How much does it cost to replace a fence?
Replacement costs the new fence plus tear-out and haul-off. See fence replacement cost.
The process and timeline
How does booking work?
Pick a time on our online booking page, or call or text (281) 644-0459. We visit the site, measure, talk through options and send an itemized estimate.
How long does installation take?
Most fence projects take one to two days once scheduled, and pool fences one to three days. See the installation timeline.
What hours can I reach you?
7 AM to 7 PM, every day. Call or text (281) 644-0459.
Do I need to be home during installation?
Not usually, but we will want to walk the fence line with you before work starts and do a final walk-through when it is done. Tell us about gate access and pets.
What should I do before the crew arrives?
Clear the fence line of plants, furniture and toys, and secure pets. If you have sprinklers or buried lines, tell us where they are. We will also ask you to confirm the property line. See our planning checklist.
What happens to my old fence?
If tear-out is part of your estimate, we remove and haul away the old fence.
Who do I call if something is wrong after the job?
Call or text (281) 644-0459. See what our warranty covers below.
HOA rules and permits
Do I need HOA approval for a fence in Katy?
In most deed-restricted neighborhoods, yes, and often even for a like-for-like replacement or a new stain color. Find your association in our HOA fence rules directory and read the approval guide.
How do I find my HOA's fence rules?
Check the association website's document library or ask the management company for the current fence or architectural guidelines. Our directory links to the official documents we found.
How long does HOA fence approval take?
It varies. Published review windows we found run from about 30 days to 45 days. Do not schedule installation until you have approval in writing.
Can you help with the HOA application?
We help you describe the fence in the detail a committee asks for: height, material, style, finish, gate locations and a photo or sample. The application is yours to sign because you are the owner.
What if my HOA denies my fence?
Ask the association in writing which rule applies and whether a different design would be approved. Texas Property Code Chapter 209 gives owners certain notice and hearing rights. For a dispute, talk to a Texas attorney.
Can an HOA ban a perimeter or security fence in Texas?
Texas Property Code Section 202.023 limits what an association can do about security measures including perimeter fences, but an association can still regulate the type of fence. See security fencing.
Do I need a permit to build a fence?
It depends on your city or county and the fence. Rules differ across Katy, Fulshear, Richmond, Sugar Land and unincorporated areas. See permits by jurisdiction and confirm with the building department for your address.
Materials, height and design
What is the best fence for privacy?
Cedar or pine board-on-board is the most common, and vinyl, composite and horizontal slat fences are also popular. See privacy fences.
Cedar or pine?
Cedar costs more and resists rot and insects better than pressure-treated pine. See cedar vs pine.
Wood, vinyl or iron?
Wood is usually the most affordable, vinyl needs less upkeep and iron or aluminum offers see-through security and a formal look. See wood vs vinyl vs iron.
How tall can my fence be?
Six feet is common for a backyard, but your HOA, deed restrictions or city may set a lower or higher limit.
How deep do you set the posts?
We set posts 2 feet deep and set them in concrete for a standard 6 ft wood fence. See clay soil and post depth.
How long does a fence last?
It depends on the material, installation and upkeep. See how long a fence lasts.
Do you stain or seal fences?
We stain fences in a variety of colors. Tell us the color you have in mind, or the color your HOA requires, when you request an estimate. See fence staining.
Do you build pool fences?
Yes. Pool fences have their own safety requirements, so tell us about the pool when you book. See pool fences.
Neighbors, property lines and shared fences
Who pays for a shared fence in Texas?
There is no simple statewide rule that splits the cost. It usually depends on agreement with your neighbor and who owns the fence. See who pays for a shared fence in Texas.
Where is my property line?
A survey or plat is the best source. Do not rely on the old fence, which may be off the line. See property lines and easements.
Can I build a fence on an easement?
Often you can build near one, but utilities may have the right to access it, and some associations bar fences that block drainage or access. Check your plat and ask first.
Do I have to tell my neighbor?
You are not always required to, but talking first avoids disputes, especially if the fence is on the line.
Repairs and storm damage
Do you repair fences?
Yes, from replacing boards and posts to fixing leaning sections and gates. See fence repair.
Should I repair or replace my fence?
A few loose boards or one leaning section can often be repaired. If many posts are rotted at the base, replacement is usually the better investment. See fence maintenance.
Can you fix a fence after a storm?
Yes. See storm damage repair. Take photos before you move anything, in case you file an insurance claim.
Do you repair gates?
Yes. See gate repair.
Gates and automatic gates
Do you install automatic gates?
Yes. Automation starts at about Starting at $2,000 installed. See driveway gates.
How much does a gate cost?
A walk gate runs about $350-600 and a double drive gate about $500-5,000, depending on size and material.
